The cliché “it was a dark, and stormy night,” almost applies. During the ’00s, I worked as a Security Guard. My post on this particular occasion in 2002 (best guess), was the Parking Lot at the Cleburne, TX Walmart. Officially we were not there because the firm I worked for was not on Walmart’s approved vendor list. It was a lit parking lot on a clear night of shifting shadows.
I was on a vehicle patrol of the park lot behind the TLC (Tire and Lubrication Center). I was grill and headlights into the corner spaces of the building to check for anyone in hiding (Employees toking a joint, having sex, stashing goods to be picked up later, and whatever young adults do in the corner shadows of the back of a Walmart). I had my brights on.
Two beings in long, black hooded cloaks appeared. One moment I was looking at the brightly illuminated empty corner, and the next moment they were there. I knew they were trouble. Their eyes glowed white, and the robes ate my light (hard pressed to explain that one).
At this time my spiritual defenses were mostly some form of Christianity. I looked straight at them, and with the full force of my will, I Shouted, “In the name of Yavay, I command you to leave me alone!”
That was it. They vanished into the light, and all that remained were my headlights on the wall. Poof they were gone.
Many of my Ghost Hunts were made possible because I was willing to work as a Night Guard.
