Out of respect for the privacy of the client their name, and location of this business are withheld. Some businesses do not benefit from the presence of the supernatural. This is one of those businesses.
This business was established in the early to mid-1960s. There is no telling how many people have been on the site since then. This place has seen the turmoil of the Vietnam War, the joy of the Moon Landing, the rise of neo-conservatism, new technologies becoming old, and replaced by even newer technologies. It has seen over 55 years of change. All of that change leaves an imprint.
I was on foot patrol of one of the main buildings. The building was locked, and empty. It was early enough in the day that even the cleaning crew had already left. My job, simply put, is to make sure that no one is in the building who does not belong there. It is the typical Security Guard routine. I began to hear an extra set of footsteps as I walked down the hall. They echoed mine but were different; they sounded like field boots. I stopped, they stopped. I began walking, they began again. The cadence was similar to mine, but still off.
I have been told that one’s sense of position in space, and relationship to other objects, is called the vestibular sense. Mine was telling me that someone was coming up behind me, just off my left shoulder. I figured it was someone playing games with me. I stopped and spun around to catch the prankster. There was no one there.
I don’t know what it was, but I do know I am going to keep looking for it. No matter what I do, I am still a ghost hunter.
