Stone Castle Hotel (3050 Green Mountain Drive) in Branson, Mo is a lovely hotel that serves the profitable tourist area which is a Midwest American, Family Friendly playground. It is known in the region as having one of the best complimentary breakfasts in Branson. I can attest to that wonderful part of the accommodations. What it is not known for is the haunting. Room 1413 has some activity.

On our first day there, at about two in the morning my roommate, a light sleeper to begin with, heard a noise high up on the wall at the foot of the bed. At breakfast the next morning, she mentioned it over the classic country breakfast.

The next night, I heard it. It was the sound of a falling object. The sound of a chain falling. It was a familiar sound, but still unidentified. There was nothing on that wall. No pictures. No wall lights. A television. A microwave. A dorm refrigerator. But, nothing more. Nothing which fell off the wall to the floor. It was an anomaly, and passed off as a bump in the night. Nothing more.

The third night, as my roommate was out enjoying a cigarette, I heard it again. After a bit of consideration, I identified the sound as ice falling into an ice tray in a refrigerator. Normal sound for a hotel, and no it wasn’t. There was no ice machine in the room. There was no ice machine in the hallway. As redundant as it may sound, there was no ice machine anywhere near us.

If you ever find yourself in that part of the United States check it out, and see what you come up with.
