India-Pakistan Conflict Intensifies

On April 22, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, primarily targeting Hindu tourists. The Resistance Front initially claimed responsibility but later retracted the statement. India attributed the attack to Pakistan-based militants, leading to heightened tensions between the two nations.(Wikipedia, Wikipedia)

In response, India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, targeting alleged terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The operation involved missile strikes on nine locations, including Bahawalpur and Muzaffarabad. Pakistan reported that Indian missiles targeted three of its air bases shortly after a ceasefire agreement was announced on May 10, raising concerns about the stability of the truce (Reuters, 2025).(Wikipedia)

The conflict also saw significant air engagements, with 125 fighter jets from both nations involved in a large-scale battle on May 7. India reportedly lost several aircraft, including a Rafale jet, marking the first combat loss of this model (Wikipedia, 2025).

Furthermore, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, leading to a significant reduction in water flow to Pakistan. Pakistan warned that any attempt by India to disrupt the flow of water from shared rivers could be considered an act of war (Wikipedia, 2025).
