Jack Wild, the charismatic actor and singer who enchanted audiences as the star of the beloved children’s television series “H.R. Pufnstuf,” passed away on 1 March 2006, at the age of 49. His family confirmed that Wild died peacefully in his sleep of oral cancer.

Born on September 30, 1958, in Royton, England, Wild’s journey into the entertainment industry began at a young age. He first gained acclaim for his exceptional performance in the 1968 film “Oliver!” where he skillfully portrayed the charming character of the Artful Dodger. This iconic role garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, making him one of the youngest nominees in history and launching his career in show business.

Jack Wild became a household name in 1969 when he starred in the groundbreaking children’s television series “H.R. Pufnstuf,” created by Sid and Marty Krofft. As the imaginative and adventurous young boy named Jimmy, Wild captivated viewers in a whimsical world filled with talking puppets and fantastical creatures. He navigated various trials alongside H.R. Pufnstuf, a large and friendly dragon voiced by Lennie Weinrib.
