MANILA, PHILIPPINES — July 26, 2025 — The numbers are in, and they’re damning. Congressional Democrats are now swimming in their lowest approval ratings in modern polling history. According to a Quinnipiac University poll conducted July 10–14, 2025, only 19% of registered voters approve of how Democrats in Congress are handling their job. Among self-identified Democrats, a majority—52%—disapprove (New York Post, 2025).

This isn’t a blip. It’s collapse. The Wall Street Journal reports 63% of voters now hold an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party, with just 33% favorable—the party’s worst showing in 35 years (WSJ, 2025). Democrats are losing ground on nearly every major issue: the economy, immigration, even foreign policy. The only policy arena where they cling to a slight lead is healthcare.

This isn’t about Republicans doing better. This is about Democrats squandering the moment.

The crisis is not just statistical. It’s philosophical. The Democratic Party has calcified into a fortress of elite deference, consultant-driven strategies, and top-down politics. Attempts at internal reform—like those made by figures such as David Hogg—are stonewalled or punished (Boston Review, 2025). The result? A base that’s demoralized, disillusioned, and ready to walk.

Grassroots energy still exists—but it’s not being led by the party. It’s being led outside the party.

Progressive leaders like Rep. Zohran Mamdani, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have long demanded structural reform. Add my name to that list. I’m Cliff Potts. I’m doing this work from the Philippines, armed with nothing but truth, a busted cell phone, and the grit of a labor-class Chicagoan who’s been screaming for decades. I launched WPS.News, Occupy 2.5, and EndFascism.xyz not because it was easy—but because it was necessary. I’m not waiting for permission to fight fascism or fix what the Democrats let rot.

Let’s be clear: This party cannot be saved by clinging tighter to Joe Biden or managing optics around corporate donors. The only way forward is:

  • Radical honesty
  • Grassroots power
  • Structural accountability

Until the Democrats either implode or reform beyond recognition, it falls to people like us to carry the weight. The next phase won’t be led by suits and soundbites. It’ll be built by working-class activists with scars, receipts, and no time left to waste.

You know where to find us.
