The Republic of the United States is not dying. It’s already dead. And the rest of the world’s media — from London to Lagos, Berlin to Bangkok — has chosen not to notice.

This is not ignorance. It is willful denial.

The last six years have seen open attempts to overturn elections, violent insurrections, judicial authoritarianism, a Supreme Court ruling that grants the president near-total immunity, and a fascist plan (Project 2025) being promoted by think tanks and Republican candidates without apology. And what do global headlines offer?

“Trump eyes 2024 comeback.”
“Biden faces criticism on economy.”
“U.S. Supreme Court clarifies presidential powers.”

Clarifies?

The U.S. Supreme Court just greenlit dictatorship — and the press treated it like a footnote.

This is the same press that breathlessly reported on January 6 as if it were a shocking one-off. It wasn’t. It was a warning shot. Now, the full collapse is underway, with mass disinformation campaigns, Christian nationalist indoctrination, and a tech billionaire (Elon Musk) creating a shadow government under the guise of a “centrist” third party — and still, no international front pages scream.

Why?

Because Fascism Is Good for Business

Major media is owned by billionaires, funded by corporations, and fueled by the same capitalism that now props up America’s authoritarian turn. They benefit from chaos, clicks, and consolidation of power. They call it “stability” when fascists wear suits and talk about innovation.

Democracy was never the priority. Access and revenue were.

Because the Myth Must Be Maintained

The United States is still treated like the beacon of the free world — even when its elections are rigged by gerrymandering, its courts answer to oligarchs, and its political class is entirely bought. If the U.S. falls, the global liberal order loses its anchor.

So the press clings to the myth.

Because No One Wants to Admit the Empire Has Fallen

There will be no global obituary. No breaking news banners that say, “The American Republic Has Collapsed.” There will be no moment of silence at the U.N., no New York Times headline that reads “Fascism Comes to Washington.” Because the fall happened in slow motion. Because no one wants to take responsibility for ignoring the fire until the house was ash.

History will not be kind to this silence.

It wasn’t kind to those who ignored Hitler’s rise either. But it took a world war to wake them up.

Let’s hope we don’t have to repeat the lesson.

We told you.
We warned you.
And you laughed.
