Greg Abbott, the sitting Governor of Texas, has presided over a regime defined by cruelty, disregard for the law, and escalating authoritarianism. The following constitutes a formal public indictment detailing his willful violations of the Texas Constitution, federal law, and international human rights standards.
I. Dereliction of Constitutional Duty
Under Article 4, Section 10 of the Texas Constitution, the Governor is required to “cause the laws to be faithfully executed.” Greg Abbott has not only failed in this duty — he has openly subverted it. By turning state agencies into instruments of political violence and ideological persecution, Abbott has betrayed the foundational legal contract he swore to uphold.
II. Operation Lone Star: State-Sanctioned Violence Against Migrants
Abbott’s border initiative, Operation Lone Star, has resulted in:
- Barbed wire traps, razor-blade buoys, and deterrent measures that have injured or killed multiple migrants — including children.
- Documented orders to withhold water, deny medical care, and push back asylum seekers in direct violation of federal immigration law and the UN Convention on Refugees.
- At least two confirmed deaths by drowning attributed directly to river barriers placed under Abbott’s direction.
These actions may constitute violations of international law, the Eighth Amendment, and federal civil rights statutes.
III. Abuses Within Texas Child Protective Services
Under Abbott’s administration:
- Thousands of children in CPS custody have been placed in unlicensed or abusive facilities.
- State leadership ignored multiple court orders mandating foster care reform.
- Children were forced to sleep in government offices for days or weeks.
This constitutes criminal negligence, child endangerment, and possible deprivation of rights under color of law.
IV. The SB 8 Abortion Bounty Law
Abbott signed Senate Bill 8, which:
- Allowed private citizens to sue anyone involved in helping a person obtain an abortion.
- Was deliberately structured to evade judicial review.
- Targeted marginalized populations with vigilante-style enforcement.
SB 8 stands as a flagrant attack on reproductive freedom, due process, and constitutional checks and balances.
V. Suppression of Free Speech and Right to Protest
Abbott’s government has:
- Targeted LGBTQ+ events, BLM protests, and campus-based activism.
- Championed legislation criminalizing peaceful protests.
- Enabled law enforcement crackdowns designed to suppress dissent.
This is a violation of the First Amendment and Article I of the Texas Bill of Rights.
VI. Misuse and Abuse of the Texas National Guard
- Deployed National Guard troops under politically motivated orders without adequate training.
- Created unsafe and unclear conditions for Guard members.
- At least four suicides were reported among deployed personnel.
These actions raise legal concerns under labor law, military code, and civil service protections.
VII. Systematic Voter Suppression
Abbott signed SB 1, which:
- Banned 24-hour and drive-thru voting.
- Criminalized helping disabled voters.
- Targeted diverse counties with the highest restrictions.
This law likely violates the Voting Rights Act, the ADA, and the Equal Protection Clause.
VIII. Gross Negligence During the 2021 Power Grid Crisis
During Winter Storm Uri:
- Abbott ignored expert warnings about the Texas grid.
- The blackout killed over 700 people.
- He moved to protect ERCOT and energy companies from liability instead of fixing the grid.
This was preventable mass death caused by executive inaction.
IX. Attacks on Transgender Children and Families
Abbott ordered CPS to:
- Investigate parents of trans kids for “abuse” if they provided gender-affirming care.
- Punish doctors for following medical best practices.
- Push families to flee Texas for survival.
This is state persecution, plain and simple — and unconstitutional.
X. Book Bans and Educational Censorship
Abbott has:
- Supported banning books about race, gender, and LGBTQ+ identity.
- Backed whitewashing curriculum to erase Black history, colonialism, and civil rights struggles.
This is a direct attack on academic freedom and student rights.
Conclusion: Time for Removal, Recall, or Resignation
Greg Abbott has systematically violated the public trust and the law. He has presided over human rights abuses, constitutional violations, and avoidable deaths. He no longer governs — he rules by force, ideology, and fear.
The people of Texas must act. Recall him. Remove him. Replace him.
This is not politics.
This is justice.
This is survival.
