Hollywood romances come and go, but every now and then one sneaks up on us and actually feels…well, earned. That’s exactly what happened with Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton — better known to Stranger Things fans as Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers. Yes, Jonathan really did get the girl, and honestly, good for him. The rest of us can only sit here and pretend we’re not a little jealous.

Natalia Dyer, born in Nashville in 1995, didn’t arrive in Hollywood with a neon sign over her head. She’s the type who sneaks up on you — quiet, sharp, and effortlessly magnetic once she steps in front of a camera. Charlie Heaton, born the same year in England, is her total opposite: expressive, scrappy, a former drummer who practically stumbled into acting and suddenly found himself famous. And yet somehow, these two wildly different humans ended up orbiting the same little universe until gravity did its thing.

Rumor has it their connection sparked during Season One filming in Atlanta back in 2015. Not the dramatic, “falling into each other’s arms” kind of thing — more like long conversations between takes, lingering glances that co-stars noticed before the world did, and that slow, unmistakable shift in body language that fans catch faster than the actors themselves. By 2016 the speculation was everywhere, and by 2017, when the paparazzi photos hit, they simply shrugged and stopped pretending they weren’t a couple.

And here’s where it gets interesting: they’ve actually lasted. Nearly a decade later, they’re still together, still low-drama, still refusing to feed the Hollywood gossip machine any more than necessary. Every time the internet thinks they’ve secretly gotten married, Natalia flashes a ring that turns out to be…absolutely nothing. And every time fans think they’ve broken up because work takes them in different directions, the pair strolls back into view looking perfectly fine.

Are they getting married? Nobody knows — they aren’t talking. Friends say yes, they’re committed. No, they’re not rushing it. Yes, they’re planning futures. No, they don’t want strangers voting on their relationship. In a town built on spectacle, that kind of normalcy looks downright rebellious.

Now, let me break neutrality for a second — because this is a gossip column and we get to be human here. I am absolutely jealous of Charlie Heaton. The man has great hair, sure, but more importantly he’s dating one of the brightest, most grounded actresses of her generation. Natalia is adorable, whip-smart, energetic, and plays one of the best characters in the entire Stranger Things universe. If Charlie ever writes a book called “How I Pulled This Off,” I’ll be the first in line.

Meanwhile, Natalia is carving out an impressive post-Stranger Things career with indie films that let her flex in entirely new ways. Charlie’s juggling both acting and music, keeping that unpredictable edge that made Jonathan Byers such a compelling character in the first place. Whatever the future holds, the two of them seem determined to write it themselves — not let the internet write it for them.

So yes, Jonathan got the girl. And for once, Hollywood didn’t ruin the ending.
