The Stealth Runner initiative plans to deliver purpose-built vessels to responsible fisherfolk, empowering them to protect their own communities. “This is not a commercial venture; we are providing these boats to those who understand the vision and necessity of safeguarding our fishing grounds,” said Cliff Potts.

One of the key advantages of the Stealth Runner is its legal leverage under Maritime law and UNCLOS. With private boats taking to the waters, there is a significant opportunity to challenge any aggressive actions from Chinese vessels effectively. “Our goal is to have a friendly presence in these waters, acting quickly to offer assistance in emergencies and establish positive interactions,” Potts continued.

The initiative will rely heavily on community engagement and training. A comprehensive playbook and operational manual will be developed in collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard and other maritime authorities. “We believe that by educating the fisherfolk and equipping them with the right tools, we can drastically improve their feelings of safety and enable them to respond effectively to any challenges,” Potts explained.

The Stealth Runner project embraces a dual mission: providing immediate support to fisherfolk facing potential threats while pursuing a longer-term objective of fostering cooperative relations with neighboring nations. “We hope that by demonstrating our commitment to peace and safety, we can encourage dialogue and cooperation with Chinese authorities,” added Potts.

To increase visibility for the Stealth Runner project, outreach will begin immediately through various platforms, including social media channels, local and international media outlets, and community networks. “We are actively seeking a partnership with NGOs that share our commitment to environmental responsibility and social justice to help ensure the success of this initiative,” Potts stated.

As part of funding efforts, we encourage supporters to contribute through our crowdfunding campaign at patreon.com/WPSNews. Your support will directly contribute to the construction and deployment of the Stealth Runners, making a real difference in the lives of fisherfolk in the West Philippine Sea.

We believe that with enough support, the Stealth Runner initiative can make a substantial and positive impact in the West Philippine Sea, ultimately allowing fisherfolk to reclaim their right to fish peacefully and without fear of harassment.
