Resurrection Mary is another well known Chicagoland ghost. She is, nevertheless, not to be confused with Mary Worth, or Bloody Mary. She is the main, tragic, dancehall spector who refuses to stay buried. Resurrection Mary is Chicago’s own vanishing hitchhiker.
According to the story a young woman was at the Oh Henry
Ballroom/Willowbrook Ballroom (8900 Archer Avenue, Willow Springs, Illinois — which burned down in 2015) and got into an argument with her date of the night — I am sure he was being a cad.
While walking home she was struck and killed by a hit-and-run. Afterwards she was buried in a White Dress, and White Dancing Shoes in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery (7201 Archer Rd, Justice, Illinois).
She is also called the Ghost of Archer Avenue.
Since that night, men have picked up a woman in White along Archer Avenue only to have her vanish as the vehicle passes the cemetery.
The story has been recounted many times, for many sightings, for many years.
