One of the most difficult things to accept is that the days keep coming anyway.

They do not pause. They do not wait for you to catch up. They do not slow down out of respect for what has happened. Morning arrives when it arrives. Evening follows when it follows. The calendar turns without asking whether you are ready.

There is something almost offensive about that at first.

When everything inside you has been broken open, it feels like the world should notice. It feels like time itself should hesitate, even for a moment, as if to acknowledge that something important has ended. But it does not. The clock continues. The routines continue. The ordinary demands of life do not step aside.

So you move with them.

Not always well. Not always willingly. Sometimes you move because there is no other option. The day is there, and it must be lived, whether you feel prepared for it or not. You get up. You handle what is in front of you. You carry the weight along with everything else that needs to be done.

That is how it works.

Over time, the shock of that constant movement fades, but the reality does not change. Life does not stop for grief. It makes space for it in uneven ways, but it does not yield to it. That can feel cruel. It can also, in a strange way, be what keeps a person going.

Because the days do not ask for perfection.

They only ask to be lived.

Some days you do that well. Some days you do it poorly. Some days you barely manage it at all. But the fact that the days keep coming means there is always another chance to try again, even if that try is small.

That is not comfort.

It is simply the structure of things.

The days keep coming anyway.

And so, in whatever way you can, you keep meeting them.
