A Simple Interaction

It often begins innocently enough. A like. A reaction. A brief comment offered in passing, meant to acknowledge rather than initiate anything further.

Nothing dramatic. Nothing demanding. Just a small gesture of participation, politely executed.

On Unexpected Consequences

Shortly afterward, the situation may develop. Additional content appears. Messages arrive. The interaction is interpreted as an invitation rather than a conclusion.

What was intended as courtesy is received as encouragement.

Enthusiasm, Unchecked

The platform makes no effort to distinguish between interest and acknowledgment. All engagement is treated equally, and enthusiasm is allowed to compound without moderation.

Boundaries, if they exist, are left to the user to manage.

A Quiet Thought

In most social settings, one would not assume that a nod across the room constitutes consent to follow someone home. Such misunderstandings are usually discouraged.

But bless their heart, enthusiasm can be so easily mistaken for connection.
