A Choice Is Offered
From time to time, the platform extends an option. One may participate. One may decline. Either response is framed as perfectly acceptable.
The invitation is friendly. The language is reassuring. There is no pressure implied, just an opportunity presented at a convenient moment.
On Optional Expectations
Although participation is described as optional, it is also gently highlighted. Reappearing prompts ensure the choice is not overlooked. Reminders are spaced thoughtfully, in case the first invitation was missed.
Opting out is possible. Remembering to do so repeatedly is part of the experience.
Courtesy, Revisited
In polite settings, an invitation is extended once and respected thereafter. Repetition would be considered unnecessary, perhaps even impolite.
Here, repetition is framed as helpful attentiveness.
A Mild Remark
One might observe that choice feels different when it must be reaffirmed continually. That consent, when repeatedly requested, begins to resemble expectation.
But bless their heart, they do so value your participation.
